Cars in Germany's Town Discovered Smeared with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police State

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Police reported they were notified by a man who discovered a automobile in Hanau covered with red-colored liquid

Approximately 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.

Law enforcement say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.

The fluid had been drawn in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then located many other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Police state initial examinations show the fluid was likely blood from a person.

"There is still no indication as to its origin; investigators are currently not aware of any physical harm in connection with the event," they added.

City officials said they were attempting "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the public for information.

A senior official commented the incident made him stunned and required to be addressed rapidly.

"This event hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist attack in 2020," he posted on social media, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a gunman focusing on residents of foreign heritage in February 2020.
