Large-scale Russian Strikes Cut Power Throughout Ukraine's Capital

Power facilities under attack in the region
The country's energy systems have come under increased attacks in the past few days

Overnight, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have caused power cuts in large parts of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

A number of civilians were injured while residents in eastern neighborhoods were experienced blackouts and faced problems to water systems, as stated by city officials.

Meanwhile, a young boy was lost their life in a different Russian drone strike in the southeastern region in the southern area, according to area administrators.

Moscow has increased strikes on energy facilities over recent weeks, while Ukrainian leadership has demanded "concrete actions" from allies to exert influence on Moscow.

"What is required is not superficial actions but decisive action - from the US, the EU and the G7 - in supplying protection systems and applying penalties," was stated in a public message.

Officials stated that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and over thirty projectiles struck the country's power systems, characterizing such assaults as "strategic and deliberate" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as temperatures become colder.

Government representatives said Moscow was "conducting extensive attacks" and technical staff were striving to repair systems.

A series of attacks struck energy infrastructure and residential structures in the capital.

Five out of the nine people hurt in the attacks on the capital have been hospitalized, per statements from municipal representatives.

Area administrators said the metropolitan region came under intense attacks throughout the evening. A young boy was killed and three other people were hurt.

The assaults come after nights of aerial attacks in the territory, sections of which are occupied by Russian forces.

The entire country is in a state of readiness for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are harder to identify.

Government officials told reporters that Moscow was purposely seeking to destroy the country's energy grid, with assaults already impacting energy systems.

Officials stated technical personnel and authorities were preparing for additional strikes.
