Two Detentions Following Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

The assault caused the temporary closure of the CTA tunnel and the T3 parking area.

An additional two individuals have been arrested in connection with a theft at London's Heathrow Airport in which 21 people sustained injuries by a substance believed to be pepper spray, as stated by police.

A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, authorities confirmed.

These detentions come after a probe into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the attack, two women had stolen from them their suitcases upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was among the injured during the incident. Five people went to hospital for treatment and have since been discharged.

Police detained a man in his thirties for suspected theft and assault near the scene. He has since been released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Authorities were alerted at approximately 08:10 GMT following reports of several individuals hurt by an irritating chemical thought to be pepper spray.

The assault - which police said was isolated and not considered an act of terror - caused train delays and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking facility for a short time.
